In looking for a Ridgeback that will fit the standard for the show ring, you will want to start by looking at the dog and then having hands on. If you like what you see and feel then a check of the dogs pedigree and the owneres intent with their Ridgebacks is perhaps the next step in the process, this is also the same you would want to do if looking for a good pet.
Dog Shows are a sport but also the place where breeders have the opportunnity to show the public the results of their breeding programs. My breeding program is designed to improve the Rhodesian Ridgeack Dog. My intent is to put on the ground the best RR that conforms to the standard that was written for the breed. One that has passed all health clearances and is certified in the CHIC data base.
Let me start this process today with my current stud dog. His call name is Cheetah. Named by his breeder and co-owner because he was fast on his feet as a youngster, thus showing a potential lure coursing career.
If you click on his picture it is linked to his POST pedigree. His POST pedigree has additional info such as, his owners info, dob, and his offspring...This is a great place to start your research on a future RR. As you work the links on POST you may not recognize the dogs in the pedigrees, this is a great time to pick up the phone and call the owner or breeder of the litter as they will be able to give you information on many of the dogs in the pedigree...The POST team has also done a great job on giving us pictures of these dogs in many cases. More later as puppies call..:)

Hoppy home from his HoneyMoon Upstate

Hoppy - (Kushinda Crimson Heart Veldt) is on his way home from his Honeymoon upstate. He decided he would go there for the weeks visit. His lady friends, dog and human were quite pleased with the gentleman manners he displayed while visiting. He did a stop over in Thomasville to visit with dogs and family there for a couple days and today is on his way back to WV with a big smile on his face...K

Puppy Watch! Puppy Watch! Puppy Watch!

Occasionally, we have puppies and thought this site would be a good place for potential owners to keep up with the latest information on upcoming litter while they wait for their new fur family member. Visitors are welcomed also.

All of the puppies we have are from AKC Champion CH, FC or Pointed(still earning their titles) Show Dogs. In other words the best of the best. We never breed pet quality to pet quality as this would result in inferior dogs.

Our Ridgebacks are Registered with the Canine Health Info Center (CHIC) meaning they have passed the Health test recommended by RRCUS Club and their code of ethics, and the OFA for; Hips, Elbows, Thyroid (MI State) and Eyes (CERF).
In addition we have the Heart check by a cardiologist and certifed passes.
Then we do the DNA testing for Degenerative Mylopathy and use only dogs that will not pass on the disease to their offspsring. Generally the NN or clear dogs. I have 7 of them pictured on the main blogette site.

Whee!, that is a lot of testing and that is a lot of a Healthy Ridgeback that we offer to the pet and show potential owners. Conscienciously planned breedings for the Rhodesian ridgeback for the Show and Pet Home.
